A Simplistic Review I Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025)

We always like to ask ourselves over at Simplistic Reviews; “What needs to be re-made?”

Most of the time we don’t think much does; just come up with compelling narratives, original ideas, and things will work out just fine.

And while we shout out ‘Garbage Day!’ from time to time, this version of ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ is anything but garbage; we (meaning I) want MORE MORE MORE.

Sure, you have a killer in a Santa suit who is dealing with decades worth of untreated trauma like the (some of) films before, but this time you have some great twists; as long as you’re willing to go along with Billy, Pam and of course Charlie.

Say what you will about ‘Halloween Ends’ (I loved it) but Rohan Campbell is the new face of the genre. He can play sympathetic, menacing, and acts with a purpose; and that’s what this film has; PURPOSE.

The purpose isn’t to change the genre or recreate it, but it moves the film at a nice pace, has just the right amount of backstory, gives you the gore and pathos you want in a holiday slasher and while not completely re-hashing much from 1984, gives diehard fans those little touches that will make them feel like Leo in ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’

So this holiday season open that advent calendar, have your dad sign away all of his money to you, jump in a ball pit, and don’t have that little voice in the back of your head tell you ‘it’s not a great idea;’ ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ just might be my newest yearly holiday horror tradition.
