Simply Spooky: That Scene In ‘Combat Shock’

Now we are going to head into the darkness. There isn’t much to say about 1986’s “Combat Shock.” It’s bleak and depressing. I’d compare it to “Requiem for a Dream",” “A Serbian Film,” “Eraserhead",” and maybe just a touch of “The Deer Hunter.”

The story of Frankie is a sad and cold one. Vietnam flashbacks, poverty, junkie friends, no job prospects, a mutant baby. And those are just the things that Frankie has to look forward to when he wakes up.

But in a film with so many horrible things, there is ‘That Scene In’ “Combat Shock” where we get a nice little breakfast scene with Frankie’s wife and their cuddly little…child? Bread crumbs; it does a body good.
