A Simplistic Review: A Wu-Tang Experience - Live at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Thinking about The Wu-Tang Clan, hip-hop’s everlasting force, it’s an endless debate of the best solo album (Liquid Swords), best wordsmith (GZA) the star of the show (Method Man) and the best verse across the entire catalogue (U-God’s in ‘Heaterz’)***

However, the ongoing, almost inextinguishable creative guru will always be RZA; producer, MC, leader, constant hype-man, and the captain of a ship that has someone been able to manifest decades of music and somehow keep together a group that would never work in this day and age despite of their one of their biggest stars, Ol’ Dirty Bastard', in 2007.

With '‘A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre’ the ambitions of the Wu hit a new level as they collaborate with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra in a performance that goes BEYOND music and creates a film companion to the Shaw Brothers’ ‘The 36th Chamber of Shaolin.’

Being able to see The Wu-Tang Clan be the first rap act to headline the Ryman Auditorium back in 2019 was a music moment that can’t be replicated (read more on that HERE when I covered that show) but seeing a show in such a natural setting with a 60-piece accompaniment…it’s up there.

Whether you’re a Wu-Tang fan from 1993 or 2025, this is a must watch documentary.
