V/H/S/99 (Brooklyn Film Festival)

The film is presented as a mixtape of five different narratives set in 1999. Unlike in the previous V/H/S entries, the film does not have an overarching frame narrative in between each short. Instead, short stop-motion animations of toy soldiers — made by Brady from "The Gawkers" — serve as interludes.

This is a good film if you are looking at it from the horror side, but as a nostalgia window into the late 90s its miles of fun and creativity. You just know they had fun making this one on set, fake 90s commercials and parodies with enough blood and monsters to keep you entertained. Give it a watch on Shudder!
