Attack on Paradise | Fantasia 2026

While Attack on Paradise wears its influences on its sleeve with some undeniable shades of The Raid, it manages to carve out its own space as a fast paced, highly entertaining siege film. It isn't perfect, and a few narrative threads definitely get dropped along the way, but if you can just let go and embrace the sheer energy, humor, and overcharged machismo, it is a wildly fun ride.

The premise throws us into the deep end with Suleyman, a man fresh out of a seven year prison sentence, who returns to his apartment block, "Paradise" only to find it completely overrun by gangs and drug dealers. When a sudden police raid turns the building into an all-out warzone, he ends up battling his way up floor by floor alongside a rookie cop. But beneath all the brutal, high stakes violence, there is actually a surprisingly heart melting core to the story of a desperate son just trying to fight his way through the madness to get his mother to safety.

Director Bob Colaers does a fantastic job of highlighting the physical strain and exhaustion in the fight choreography, making every punch and kick feel incredibly grounded. The film takes a familiar action movie setup and breathes vibrant, lurid life into it through a diverse cast and a solid script. It might trace a familiar story arc, but it is a beautifully chaotic thriller that delivers exactly the kind of pulse pounding action it promises.
